Elizabeth Stark is an influential free culture advocate who was deeply involved in opposing SOPA.

She teaches at Yale and is one of the founders of the Open Video Alliance, a coalition of organizations including Google and Mozilla that promotes free expression and innovation in online video through open standards, open source, and sharing; in other words, preventing online video from turning into what traditional television has become today -a proprietary, one-way medium. Stark says that "video is the future of the Internet, but the people who control the technology also control the innovation".
